Volunteers can spend time with elderly folks and dementia care patients at the Sunrise on Clayton Assisted Living Facility. Students can participate in a large range of activities with the residents, ranging from cognitively stimulating games and puzzles to music and ice cream socials. Before participating, students must complete a one-hour training with the Volunteer and Activities Coordinator at Sunrise (Brittany McIntyre). She provides a list of activities the list of activities for each month going on at Sunrise, and trained volunteers can choose to help out with any of them according to their own schedules.

We will set up transportation for groups of volunteers to go the Sunrise location near downtown Clayton, and all that is needed to participate is attending a one-hour orientation/training session hosted by Sunriseā€™s volunteer coordinator that will be held on campus. Locations and times to volunteer range from mornings to early afternoons, since activities for residents are spaced out throughout the day. Thanks for your interest!
